Daniel William Carter was born on March 5, 1982, in Leeston, New Zealand. He grew up in Southbridge, a small town on the South Island, where he developed a passion for rugby from a young age. Carter attended Ellesmere College before transferring to Christchurch Boys’ High School to improve his chances of excelling in rugby.
