Scotland head coach Bryan Easson has unveiled his 32-player squad for the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 in England, with captain Rachel Malcolm set to lead a blend of experienced campaigners and exciting newcomers.
Drawn in Pool B, Scotland will open their tournament against Wales in Salford on 23 August, followed by clashes with Fiji and world number two side Canada. The group contains 18 forwards and 14 backs, with nine players boasting over 50 international caps.
Lana Skeldon, with 81 caps, is the most experienced player in the squad, while flanker Malcolm is one of 21 squad members returning from the last Rugby World Cup in 2022. Among those making their second tournament appearance are notable names such as Helen Nelson, Rhona Lloyd, Lisa Thomson, and Emma Wassell, whose selection caps a remarkable comeback from surgery to remove a benign chest tumour last year.
The squad also features one uncapped player, wing Hannah Walker, alongside several others set for their first World Cup experience, including Becky Boyd, Adelle Ferrie, Hannah Ramsay, and Evie Gallagher. In a historic moment for Scottish rugby, Elliann and Rhea Clarke will become the first sisters to represent Scotland in the same Rugby World Cup.
Five of the players named have also represented Edinburgh Rugby in the Celtic Challenge this season, underlining the depth and development coming through the domestic game.
