Samoa have officially confirmed the 32 players who will carry the nation’s hopes at the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 in England, marking their long-awaited return to the tournament for the first time since 2014.
The announcement came during a farewell event in Apia, where family, friends, and rugby fans gathered to celebrate the team’s journey. Head coach Mataafa Ramsey Tomokino has blended experienced leaders with emerging talent, ensuring Samoa are not only ready for this year’s challenge but also building for the future.
Samoa earned their ticket to the World Cup by securing second place in the WXV 3 competition last year. They begin their Pool A campaign against Australia in Manchester (Salford) on Saturday, 23 August, before facing top-ranked hosts England in Northampton on 30 August and the USA in York on 6 September.
“It’s a proud moment for our rugby community,” said Tomokino. “These players have shown incredible commitment, and each one deserves their spot.”
Captain Sui Pauaraisa, who will lead Samoa into her first Rugby World Cup, added: “We play with the pride of our people in our hearts, and we’re determined to make Samoa proud.”
