The draw for the 2027 Men’s Rugby World Cup, held on Wednesday, 3 December, determined the composition of the six groups for the tournament, which will take place in Australia from 1 October to 13 November. The event will be historic, as it will feature 24 teams for the first time, expanding participation and generating unprecedented matchups.

One of the most notable clashes will occur in Group A, where the host nation will share the pool with one of the traditional powerhouses of world rugby. The encounter between the two sides, never before seen in a Rugby World Cup group stage, could even serve as the tournament’s opening match. Chile and Hong Kong China complete the group.

In Group B, the reigning world champion has been placed alongside Romania, Georgia, and Italy, forming a pool that brings together teams with significant experience in European and African rugby contexts.

Group C will feature an attractive matchup between Argentina and Spain, two sides that have shown steady progress in recent seasons. Fiji and Canada join them in a pool defined by diverse playing styles and open expectations.

Group D will consist of Scotland, Ireland, Portugal, and Uruguay, a combination of teams with varying profiles in the international landscape and considered one of the more demanding pools in the opening phase.

Meanwhile, Groups E and F will offer intercontinental encounters of interest, bringing together teams from Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa, and the Americas. Highlights include Samoa, the United States, Japan, and France in Group E, and the grouping of Zimbabwe, Tonga, Wales, and England in Group F.
