Jorge G. Allen, born on July 12, 1956, in Vicente López, Argentina, is a former Argentine rugby union player, known for his position as a flanker. Allen’s career is notable not only for his performances on the field but also for breaking ground as the first Argentine player to play for a South African team during a time when international rugby was less globalized. He is a true icon in Argentine rugby history.

Allen started his senior career with Club Atlético San Isidro (CASI), one of the most prestigious clubs in Argentina. His exceptional talent soon led him abroad, signing for South Africa’s Natal Sharks in 1982, making him the first Argentine to play in a South African team. After his stint in South Africa, Allen moved to Italy, where he played for L’Aquila Rugby before eventually returning to CASI to end his career.

Allen earned 26 caps for Argentina between 1981 and 1989. He made his international debut in 1981 against Canada in Buenos Aires. However, he had previously represented the South American Jaguars, an invitational team, in 1980, playing four matches against the Springboks.
