Ospreys claimed their first victory of the 2026/27 United Rugby Championship season with a dramatic 38–31 win over Dragons RFC at Rodney Parade. The Welsh derby featured ten tries, eight changes of the lead and a thrilling finish.

Dragons made the stronger start when hooker Elliot Dee crossed for the opening try. Ospreys responded through Keelan Giles and former Dragons forward Ross Moriarty. However, Moriarty conceded a penalty try shortly before half-time and was shown a yellow card, allowing Dragons to take a 14–12 lead into the break.

The second half developed into a physical battle dominated by driving mauls and close-range forward attacks. Ospreys captain Sam Parry scored twice, while Dee completed his own double for Dragons. A try from winger Anzelo Tuitavuki then put the hosts ahead 28–26.

Morgan Morris proved decisive for Ospreys. The number eight powered over in the 71st minute to restore the visitors’ lead before adding his second try during the closing stages. Dan Edwards converted the final score to extend the advantage to 38–28.

Dragons continued fighting until the end. Replacement Angus O’Brien kicked a late penalty to reduce the deficit to seven points. The home side collected both a four-try bonus point and a losing bonus point, while Ospreys celebrated an important away victory.
