Michael John Hawker, born on October 11, 1959, in Wellington, New South Wales, Australia, is a former Australian rugby union international renowned for his achievements both on the field and in the financial sector. Hawker was a standout at Sydney Church of England Grammar School, where he was selected for the prestigious Australian Schoolboys rugby team that went unbeaten during its 1977–78 tour. He later attended the University of Sydney, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. In recognition of his contributions to the financial industry and his service to the community, he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2010.
